This can range from hooks to baskets all with different load thresholds. Baskets are used to store items like nails and screws which cannot be hung but instead require a box to keep them all together. Hooks are primarily used to hang tools but have also been used to hang bikes on walls.

Things like canoes and seasonal decorations can be placed in overhead storage with this system. One person can raise and lower the objects with ease without placing themselves or the items at risk. Christmas trees and skis would normally be stored in overhead bins like these are they are not used throughout the year. Mechanized lifts also make it easier to store cumbersome objects neatly without the constant need for rearrangement as new things are bought or sold.

As many as ten storage bins can be installed in the overhead storage space. Bins can be installed on tracks providing greater security and safety for both the items stored and the people below. It is common practice that objects like these be stored in sturdy containers in order to protect them from any possible erosion. Reaching these items will be more difficult so it is recommended that only items that will not be of immediate use be stored there. This would normally be old toys or children’s clothing that will no longer be needed.

There are various ways to increase the storage space available in a garage. All these ways involve removing clutter from the ground and placing it on the walls or in overhead compartments. While wall mounts and shelves serve a routine purpose they do not make the best use of the space available.

Any overhead space that is more than what is required to park the car or walk through the garage can be used by ceiling mounts. Stationary shelves attached overhead would require a ladder to access them. These are great for objects that do not require frequent use but would still need to be accessed quickly. Usually these items that do not carry a specific seasonal purpose but are not used all year round either.
