How to plan an outdoor event
Whether it’s a special birthday, a wedding, or a festival, outdoor events can be magical. There is something about the open air that adds buzz to the atmosphere that is unmatched by an indoor venue. It’s even been said that food tastes better outdoors! However outdoor events carry with them the risk of the weather not playing along. It is simply a risk people have to take a lot of the time. Even
There are a few things though that you can include in your planning that will ensure that if the weather does not play along, the day will still be a success. Always have a backup plan. This can be another venue entirely, or an enclosed sheltered area or marquee large enough to accommodate everyone.
Don’t forget about the bugs. The day may be sunny, the evening balmy, but if critters are about getting into people’s food, or underneath their clothes, guests will be none too pleased. We’d like to think we would never pollute the air with insecticides but in order to ensure that the party is not taken over by an army of ants, it is often necessary to spray the venue several hours in advance. This also gives time for the air to clear. However it may not need be that drastic and if mosquitos are an issue, a few citronella candles can do the trick.
GRP products may come in useful as you can get enclosures, kiosks, showers, and toilets made from the highly durable inexpensive material. No one likes to think about toilets, but they are an absolute must for outdoor parties. Even if you ar planning your party in your large back garden, you may not want 50 odd people using your downstairs loo. It may be well worth it to hire a GRP portable loo. Don’t worry about offending your guests, as port a loo’s have come a long way in recent years. They often come complete with sinks, lighting, loo roll, and flushing!
Always ask permission! Don’t just assume it’s ok. You don’t want your party to come to an abrupt end just because you did not take the necessary steps to obtain a permit and permission from your neighbours. In fact, it’s always good for to invite your neighbours if you plan on carrying on in your back garden until the wee hours of the morning.
